Scottish
champion Clara Young (North Berwick), pictured below, and Connie Jaffrey (Troon Ladies)
are just outside the top 20 at the end of the first day of the European
women's individual amateur golf championship at Murhof Golf Club,
Austria.
They
both shot one-under-par 71s to be five shots behind the leader, Junior
Vagliano Trophy team player Agathe Laisne, a 16-year-old from the Racing
Club de France.
Laisne had an eagle 2 at the par-4 fifth and an eagle 3 at par-5 seventh.
She
leads by one from Ana Belac (Slovenia) and Aditi Ashok (Bangalore), the
Indian girl who won the St Rule Trophy at St Andrews this year.
Jess Meek (Carnoustie Ladies) is joint 30th after a par-matching 72.
Germany-based
Scot Rachael Taylor had a 75 for a share of 68th place while Hannah
McCook (Grantown on Spey) and former Scottish champion Gabrielle
MacDonald (Craigielaw) had disappointing rounds of 78 and 79
respectively
