Connie Jaffrey on her way back - T14 finish in
European championship
Connie Jaffrey (Troon Ladies) finished tied 14th in the European women's individual amateur championship which ended at Murhof Golf Club, Austria today.
The Scot shot four steady rounds - 71, 71, 70 and 71 for a total of five-under-par 283, an indication that she is recapturing the form that made her a GB and I international in the Astor Trophy tournament in Australia in January.
The winner was Spain's Maria Parra Luque who caught St Rule Trophy winner and long-time leader Aditi Ashok from Bangalore, India over the final round.
The Sotogrande player shot 69, 69, 67 and 68 for 15-under 273, two shots better than Ashok who had rounds of 67, 68, 69 and 71.
World No 3 female amateur Bronte Law from Cheshire was the leading British and Irish player in joint fourth place on 279 with scores of 71, 69,69 and 70.
Germany-based Scot Rachael Taylor looked set for a high finish but slumped to a 77 in the final round for 292
Jess Meek (Carnoustie Ladies) finished 61st, also finishing with a 77, for 296.]
Clara Young (North Berwick), the current Scottish women's champion, and Gabrielle MacDonald (Craigielaw), last year;s Scottish title-winner, both missed the cut. So too did Germany-based Fiona Liddell, winner of the Scottish U18 girls championship this year and last.
