Michele and Jane down the field in Belgium

Michele Thomson (Meldrum House) and Craigielaw's Jane Turner, the only Scots to survive the second-round cut, finished joint 36th and 45th respectively in the LETAS tournament, the Servizitalia Open at Rinkven Golf Club, Belgium today.

Thomson, pictured, had only one birdie, at the 17th, in her final round after bogeying the 10th, 14th, 15th and 16th. She had scores of 77, 71 and 75 for a total of 223 - three better than Turner who had four birdies in her last round but also two double bogey 6s. Over the 54 holes, the Lothians player had four double bogey 6s in scoring 74, 76 and 76 for 226.
Spanish amateurs finished first and third.
Natalia Escuriola won with an aggregate of (68-69-68), two shots ahead of runner-up Olivia Cowan, Germany-based daughter of a Liverpool-born club pro in that country. This was Olivie's debut as a professional. She had three rounds of 69 for 207.
Because the winner was an amateur, first cash prize of 4,834 euros went to Oliva
Spanish amateur Luna Sobron finished third on 208 with rounds of 67, 71 and 70.
Michele earned only 374 Euros but is still fourth in the LETAS Order of Merit table. The top five at the end of the season will gain automatic promotion to the Ladies European Tour.
Jane's playslip for this tournament was 273 euros.
