New champion named in England girls’ team
New
English girls’ champion Emily Toy is among three players who have been
named to complete the England team for next week’s Girls’ Home
Internationals.
Toy (Carlyon Bay) will be joined in the side by Eloise Healey (West Lancashire) and Alice Hewson (Berkhamsted). The team will be targeting England’s eighth successive win in this championship, which will be played at Lanark, Scotland, from 5-7 August. Toy, 17, (Image © Leaderboard Photography) is a past winner of the Cornwall ladies’ championship and has just won the English girls’ championship at Sheringham. She made up a seven shot deficit at the halfway stage and went on to win by two shots. Eloise Healey, 17, was eighth in the girls’ championship, qualified fourth in the English women’s matchplay and tied 10th in the Helen Holm Scottish stroke play. Alice Hewson, 17, was second in qualifying at the European women’s team championship and fourth in the English women’s amateur. She was in England’s winning teams at last year’s girls’ and ladies’ Home Internationals. The other five team members, who have been previously announced, are: Emma Allen (Meon Valley), Annabel Bailey (Kirby Muxloe), Samantha Fuller (Roehampton), Hollie Muse (West Lancashire) and Lizzie Prior (Burhill).
