Scottish senior women's match-play championships at Powfoot
Martine Pow wins Scottish senior stroke-play and match-play titles on her debut at Powfoot
Martine Pow (Selkirk), 50, making her debut in the Scottish senior women's amateur championships at Powfoot Golf Club on the Solway Firth, completed the stroke-play and match-play titles double this afternoon.
Top seed Martine beat Sheena Wood (Aberdeen Ladies), the No 2 qualifier, 3 and 2 in the final with one-over-par figures, which included a double bogey 6 at the ninth, and was never behind.
Pow had birdies at the fourth, eighth, 10th and 16th and lost only two holes, the ninth and the 12th.
Pow was Scottish women's amateur champion and also British women's mid-amateur championship winner (a tournament since discontinued by the LGU) in 2006.
She turned professional for a short spell to play and help get the new women's pro tour in Scotland off the ground but, that achieved, she was later reinstated as an amateur.
Martine's success duplicates the title double achieved last year by Alison Bartlett (Royal Dornoch), the Northern Counties LGA secretary.
The 2015 Scottish senior ladies' handicap championship final was won by Karen Maxwell, who has 11 of a handicap at Milngavie GC. She beat six-handicapper Aileen Baker (Crail GS) by 3 and 2 after establishing a three-hole lead by the 10th.
