Scottish Under-21 girls' open amateur stroke-play championship

Chart Hills junior member Cloe Frankish made the trip up from Kent to Drumpellier Golf Club near Glasgow well worthwhile when she opened up a five-stroke lead at the end of the first round of the Scottish Under-21 girls' open stroke play championship today.

Only 16, Cloe, pictured left by courtesy of Leaderboard Photography(c),  was following up her second place finish in the Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters and tied ninth in the English women’s amateur championship. She just missed out on a place in the GB and I team for the recent Junior Vagliano Trophy match in Belfast.
All that class showed in a round which had birdies at the first, second, 15th, 16th and 18th in halves of 36 and 33 for a four-under-par 69. She did have one slip, a bogey at the 14th.
Sharing second place, five shots behind on the 74 mark, are Louise Duncan (West Kilbride), Tara Mactaggart (Minro), Ailsa Summers (Carnoustie Ladies) and Germany's Greta Voelker (Ger).

St Andrews student Summers, a former winner of the St Rule Trophy, birdied three of the first four holes and added two more at the tenth and 17th. But she also had four bogeys and a double-bogey at the 13th.
