Number of qualifying places at Irvine down to 
ELEVEN ... chased by a field of 91

The women's professional (and amateur) golf spotlight stays in Ayrshire on Monday but switches its focus to Irvine Golf Club, venue for the 18-hole Final Qualifier for places at the Ricoh Women's British Open, starting down the Ayrsire coast at Turnberry on Thursday and ending on the Sunday.

The number of places available in the Finall Qualifier has come down to 11.

Over a 6,305yd links course with a par of 74 (36-38) with only two par-3s and three par-5s on the inwad half, it is reckoned that a par round would guarantee a player one of the precious 11 places.
It rained off an off most of today and there has been so much rain over the past month that the links will probably playevery inch of its 6,305yd (off the qualifying tees).
There are some quality amateurs as well as lady pros int he field of 91.
World No 1 female amateur Leona Maguire from Slieve Russell, Co Cavan in Ireland tops the list and other members of the GB and I team who did so much better this year against the Continent of Europe - without actually beating them for a change - are Meghan MacLaren (Wellingborough), Chloe Wiliiams from Wrexham, Wales, and England's Gemma Clews.

We shall see. If the wind blows, they will probably give a medal to anyone who gets a par round!
