Michele Thomson three off lead in Sweden

Ellon's Michele Thomson (Meldrum House) is only three shots off the pace despite a bogey at the 18th in the first round of the LETAS event in Sweden, the Solvesborg Open at Solvesborg Golf Club.

Thomson, pictured, shot a two-under-par 70 to be tied sixth in a field of 116 players. She birdied the fifth, sixth, seventh and 13th but boggeyed the fourth and 18th.
Leading the field jointly on 67 are Cecilie Lundegren (Norway) and Sweden's Natalie Wille
Charlotte Thompson from England is joint third on 68 with Nobuhle Dlamini from Swaziland
Heather MacRae (Gleneagles) is in joint 15th place with a par 72 in which she cancelled out birdies at the eighth, ninth, 13th and 17th with four bogeys.
Laura Murray (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) and rookie pro Gemma Dryburgh from Aberdeen are joint 22nd on 73. Laura had one birdie but only two bogeys while Dryburgh had an eagle 3 at the long 17th and a birdie at the eighth but she bogeyed the first, third, 11th and 18th.
Jane Turner (Craigielaw) is joint 50th on 76 while Glasgow's Gemma Webster (Succession Group) had two double bogey 6s in an inward 41for a 79 and a share of 84th place.
