Strathtyrum tournament winners and losers

The match-play stages of the Strathtyrum women's open amateur tournament at St Andrews got under way with good wins by home players bidding to keep the visiting challenge at bay.
Wendy Nicholson,Karen Marshall, Ann Ramsay, Fiona Norris and Kate McIntosh all progressed into the second round.
Among the first-round losers were Louise Macgregor (Falkirk) and Louise Fraser (Kingsknowe) as well as Ireland's Ada O'Sullivan, a former Curtis Cup captain
