Ireland are fielding a strong team this year with Gertie McMullen (The Island)
leading the team after being crowned Irish Senior Women’s Close Champion
at Castletroy.
She overcame team-mate and first time international cap Mary
MacLaren (Royal Portrush) to secure the title.
Mary Madden (Ballinasloe)
will captain the team for the second consecutive year and will be
joined by Valerie Hassett, ILGU President, to manage
the side in Lithuania.
In
2014, Ireland secured the Bronze Medal but having been crowned 2013
champions they will be looking to bring home a first place finish this
year. The first
of two 18 hole strokeplay qualifying rounds commence on Tuesday 1
September with the concluding round on Wednesday. Five out of six
strokeplay scores count each day towards the team’s total with the top 8
