Clara Young makes top 15 in first tournament
of new USA college golf season
Scottish
champion Clara Young (North Berwick) has achieved a top 15 finish in
her first tournament of the new US women's college golf circuit.
Clara,
a second-year student at the University of Missouri, finished joint
14th with scores of 72, 79 and 71 for a total of 222 in the Marilyn
Smith Invitational at Colbert Hills Golf Club, Manhattan, Kansas.
Clara, pictured with the Scottish championship trophy after the final at Monifieth earlier this year, finished eight shots behind the winner, Lindsey McCurdy (Southern Methodist) (75-73-66 for 214).
Connie Jaffrey (Troon Ladies and Kansas State University) finished joint 24th on 230 with scores of 77, 79 and 74.
The
third Scot in the field of 69 players, Jess Meek (Carnoustie and
Missouri), had scores of 79, 79 and 75 for 233 and a share of 32nd place.
Kansas State (890) finished fourth behind team title winners Southern Methodist (873) with Missouri (896) sixth of 12.
