European senior women's team championship
Sheena Wood leads the way for Scots in
Lithuania with a 76
Sheena Wood (Aberdeen Ladies) was the Scotland team's top scorer with a four-over-par 76 in the first stroke-play qualifying round of the European senior women's team championship at National Golf Resort, Lithuania today.
Sheena had a rough patch in the middle of her round - seven over par from holes fourth to 13th - but she did birdied the firfst, third, 14th and 15th and needed a par at the last hole for a 75 but unfortunately bogeyed it.
Next best Scots are Lesley Lloyd and Lorna McKinlay, tied 58th on 83. Royal Dornoch's Alison Bartlett and Fiona DeVries both had 86s for a share of 71st place. Gillian Klyle had an 88 to be joint 79th in a field of 90 players.
The best individual score of all was a par 72 by Chritine Mouhica (France).
Only the eight teams with the best 36-hole stroke-play aggregates will contest the top flight of the match-play stages.
Scotland have next to no hope of making the top eight. They are currently tied 13th on 414.
The three leading countries among those who have completed the first Q round are Germany (380), France (381) and England (389).
