Heather Munro's 68 earns a top 20 finish in
her first US college event of new season
Heather Munro (Monifieth), pictured, starting her second year as a student at Elon University, North Carolina, shot a three-under-par 68 - the joint lowest score of the third round - and she achieved a top 20 finish in this her first tournament of the 2015-2016 US college golf season: the Golfweek Program Challenge at the quaintly-named Caledonian Golf and Fishing Club, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Over a 6,002yd course with a par of 71, Heather had rounds of 77, 76 and 68 for a total of 221 and a joint 16th finish behind the winner, Nadine White (Campbell University) who had rounds of 70, 67 and 70 for six-under 207.
Other Scots in the field, Eilidh Watson (Stetson) and Rachel Walker (Old Dominion) tied for 23rd place on 226. Watson had rounds of 75, 78 and 73, Walker 72, 75 and 79.
Essex girl Paige Kemp (Stetson), whose mother comes from Stirling, finished T68 on 241 with rounds of 81, 81 and 79.
Olivia Jay from York, a student at Radford shot 86, 83 and 86 for 255 and finished T81.
Alice Plumb from Somerset, a student at Bethune-Cookman University, finished T84 on 258 with rounds of 87, 89 and 82.
Old Dominion (881) finished second to team title winners Campbell (869) with Elon (882) third and Stetson (898) seventh in a field of 18 teams.
