Jess Meek's first USA win and Clara Young ties

COLUMBIA, Missouri – Mizzou Women's Golf won its second consecutive Johnie Imes Invitational on Tuesday in record fashion as the Tigers set new team and individual tournament scoring records. 
A new 54-hole team record was set at 39-under par with a total score of 825. 
Junior Jessica Meek (Carnoustie, Scotland) won the individual title at 15-under and was joined by senior Michelle Butler (Dunedin, Florida) and sophomore Clara Young (North Berwick, Scotland) – who both tied for second – in establishing the three best individual performances in tournament history.
"We could not be more proud of our team after this event," head coach Stephanie Priesmeyer said. "We had a huge win for our program last week and I believe we made a big statement today with our performance over the last three rounds of golf. [Assistant coach] Mindy [Coyle] and I can't say enough about how our players carried themselves on the course. 
"We love the body language, and it never hurts when you execute great shots and make putts. Jess had her first career win (in USA), and it was a big win. Michelle and Clara were right there.
"We will keep our focus on the moment though. We will enjoy this moment and take a day off tomorrow, then refocus for Texas State's Jim West Challenge this weekend."
The Tigers fell two strokes shy of the NCAA Division I Women's Golf record of 41-under par for an entire tournament.
Meek shot a career-best 67 (-5) in all three rounds of the tournament and led start-to-finish. She recorded three birdies on both the front and back nine to secure the title.
Butler fired a 69 (-3) in the final round and finished 10-under par over the last two rounds.
"This is Michelle's second straight tie for second and I believe she is right there in pursuit of her first career victory," Priesmeyer said.
Young tied Butler for second place with overall scores of 207 (-9), which eclipsed the previous individual tournament record by one stroke.
The Tigers finished 25 strokes ahead of second-place Middle Tennessee and broke the team scoring record by 21 shots.
The victory marks the first back-to-back victories in the eight years the Johnie Imes has been played on Mizzou's home course at The Club at Old Hawthorne. The Tigers have also won consecutive tournaments for the first time since October 2007, when Mizzou claimed the Johnie Imes and Price's Give 'Em Five invitational hosted by New Mexico State.
Freshman Emma Allen (Southampton, England) tied for 25^th individually with a 218 (+2) total while senior Haelena Schwemmer (O'Fallon, Missouri) finished tied for 38^th by shooting 222 (+6).
Competing as individuals, freshman Cayce Hendrickson (Benton, Kentucky.) carded an overall 222 (+6), freshman Amanda Kim (O'Fallon, Missouri) registered a 225 (+9) and redshirt freshman Mackenzie Perez (Rancho Palos Verdes, California) returned from injury to complete her first tournament while recovering from back surgery, shooting consecutive scores of 87 during the final two rounds.
