Win Caithness Sutherland Women's Golf 2015
Wick Golf Club women's team won the Ord Salver from
the Caithness & Sutherland inter club team competition last Saturday by
just edging out the host club, Thurso, on a fourth score count last Saturday.
Deirdre MacAngus, winner of the Brora Ladies Open at
the beginning of the month, led the way for Wick with an opening gross card of
81 to their winning 54 hole total of 251. Following up came Marion Mackay with
83, and Hannah MacLean an 87. Thurso matched this with a best of the day
scratch 78 from Eileen Manson followed by an 80 from Laura Durrand, and 93 from
Joan Claspur.
The tied totals are separated by the fourth team
member's score and it was a 95 from Carol Place against a 108 from Anne
Simmonite that gave Wick their second Ord Salver win in four years and sixth in
all. Thurso were not completely disappointed when the same four members won the
handicap Beatrice trophy with nett 218.
Royal Dornoch, the Salver holders from last year,
finished second scratch with scores of 81 Sandy Jackson, 86 Ashley Rose and 92
Liz Coghill with Captain Denise McBride's card not required. The home side's
second team were runner's up to their first team in handicap scores.
The other Sutherland team scores were, Brora 276 and
nett 237, Bonar Bridge (1) 296 and nett 240, Bonar Bridge (2) 322 and nett 253,
Golspie (1)287 and nett 245, Golspie (2) 311 and Nett 245.
