LET NEWS RELEASE

The bidding process to host The 2019 Solheim Cup has entered its final phase. The two remaining submissions – from Scotland and Sweden - will now be scrutinized by the Ladies European Tour management team which will review and analyse each bid in turn. This process will include official site inspections of the two bidding parties including the venues and associated facilities, which are likely to take place in September and early October.

The final recommendation will be made by the LET Evaluation Committee to the LET Board on the 29th October, which will make the final decision. The official announcement of the winning bid will be made shortly afterwards.

Mark Casey, Director of The Solheim Cup, said: “On behalf of the Ladies European Tour Id like to thank the bid teams from Sweden and Scotland for bidding to host what is the biggest event in womens golf. We are delighted to have received two bids from such high quality venues".

"We also want to thank the ten countries who expressed an initial interest in hosting the event in March and who attended the bidding seminar at The Buckinghamshire Club earlier this year, many of whom have indicated their interest in submitting a bid for the 2023 event. This shows the long term interest in The Solheim Cup and ladies professional golf in Europe".

Scotlands bid, which is backed by The Scottish Government and led by the EventScotland team at VisitScotland, proposes holding the event at the world renowned Gleneagles, site of the 2014 men's Ryder Cup and a regular host of men’s and ladies Tour events. Swedens bid includes the spectacular Bro Hof Slott Golf Club, located around 50km north west of Stockholm which has hosted the Nordea Masters on the European Tour and will do again in 2016.

The 2015 Solheim Cup in Germany being played 18-20 September will raise the bar for women’s sport events and the successful bidder will be responsible to further promote and foster the brand of The Solheim Cup.
