Two shots ahead in the Lady Paladin Invitational with one round to go
Alice Hewson heading for another USA victory
GB and Ireland Vagliano Trophy team player Alice Hewson from Berkhamsted, a freshman student at Clemson University, is on the verge of another victory on the United States women's college golf circuit.
Having tied for the individual honours in her debut event a week or so ago, Alice is leading by two shots with one round to go in the 54-hole Lady Paladin Invitational at the Furman University golf course, Greenville, South Carolina.
Hewson, pictured above by Cal Carson Golf Agency, opened with a five-under-par 67 over 6,343yd course. That put her in the No 1 position in a field of 96.
She followed that with a 73 for four-under 140 and is still in the lead ... by two strokes from Michelle Butler (Missouri) (70-72 for 142).
Scot Jess Meek from Carnoustie, a student at Missouri University, is tied third on 143 after rounds of 72 and 71.
Scottish women's amateur champion Clara Young, also a Missouri student, has scored 81 and 75 for 156 and is five shots behind Elizabeth Mallett (North Carolina) from Sutton Coldfield, who has shot 75 and 76 for 151 and a share of 40th place.
Dulcie Sverdloff (Kenneshaw State) from Southend is T67 on 157 (82-75)
