Freshman Emma Allen from Southampton
finishes T10 at Las Vegas Collegiate
BOULDER CITY, Nevada – Mizzou (University of Missouri) Women's Golf team shot 14-under par as a team in Tuesday's final round and finished at 28-under overall to place fifth in a highly-competitive field at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown.
All five Tigers competing finished under par in the third round as the team recorded a total score of 836 (277-285-274) during the 3-day tournament at the Boulder Creek Golf Club.
Freshman Emma Allen (Southampton, England), pictured right, continued her strong play with a career-low round of 67 (-5) and tied for 10th individually at 10-under par 206.
Allen had six birdies on the day, including three in the last four holes.
Sophomore Clara Young (North Berwick, Scotland) shot a 69 (-3) and sank six birdie putts in the third round.
Junior Jessica Meek (Carnoustie, Scotland) shot a 70 (-2)
"Today we played with a different level of energy and confidence than yesterday," head coach Stephanie Priesmeyer said. "The conditions were so favourable again, and we were executing good golf shots and connecting with the putter. Emma had a fantastic final event for us. She played like a veteran today. Michelle and Clara were equally as balanced on the course.
"This was a great fall (autumn) for our program. We set a lot of team and personal records, and we look forward to building on this momentum over the break."
Vanderbilt and host UNLV tied for the championship by shooting totals of 831 (-33). San Diego State (-30) and Michigan (-29) finished one and two strokes ahead of Mizzou, respectively.
The Tigers return to action to begin the spring season at the UCF Challenge in Orlando, Florida, from Feb. 7–9.
