Michele joint fifth after first round in Azores
Michele Thomson (Meldrum House) from Ellon shot a one-under-par 71 to be joint fifth, two off the lead, at the end of the first day of the Azores Ladies Open at Terceira Golf Club on Terceira Island.
Michele, pictured right, had a bogey at the fourth but birdied the 15th and 16th to finish the day two shots behind the English leader with a 69, Emma Goddard.
The only other Scot in the field at this LETAS event, Jane Turner (West Linton) did not have a single birdie in a nine-over-par round of 80 which leaves her in joint 44th place and fightng to make the cut.
Turner had halves of 37 and 43, runnng up a double bogey 7 at the long 13th.
