Scots quartet finish tied 10th in The Spirit

Scotland, represented by Ewen Ferguson, Grant Forrest, Jess Meek and Rachael Taylor, finished tied 10th overall in a field of 20 at The Spirit International better-ball tournament which ended at Whispering Pines Golf Club, Texas yesterday
Ferguson and Forrest had better-ball rounds of 73, 66 and 67 for a totl of 206. They finished joint 14th in the men's section after being last of 20 at the end of their opening-day, one-over-par 73.
In their final rounds, Ferguson had an eagle 3 at the second hole and Forrest had an eagle 2 at the 14th. The Scots had no better ball birdies before the turn but birdied the 10th, 12th and 13th between them.
Meek and Taylor finished tied 10th on 204 in the women's section with scores of 69, 69 and 66.
United States were overall champions - by one stroke from Mexico- and also headed the men's section.
Mexico won the ladies' title by four shots from England who came with a last-day surge to finish second.
GB and I internationals Bronte Law and Hayley Davis, both US college students, posted a better-ball last round of 10-under-par 62 with Law shooting seven birdies and Davis five.
Jess Meek had a bag of six birdies on the final day, Rachael Taylor had two birdies.
