WPGA International Tournament at Stoke by Nayland
GALLANT BEAT-THE-CUT EFFORT
BY LAURA MURRAY JUST FAILS
Alford's
Laura Murray made a brave bid to qualify for the last round of the WPGA
International tournament at Stoke by Nayland but failed by one shot to
beat the cut.
The
Paul Lawrie Golf Centre player improved by 10 shots, from an 81 on the
first day, to a 71 in the second round but here her 152 aggregate was
just one shot too many to figure among the 50 qualifiers.
Scots
who made the cut were Aberdeen-born Gemma Dryburgh (Beaconsfield) with
rounds of 74 and 72 for 146. She is tied 15th behind Spanish leader
Natalia Escuriola (68-67 for 135).
Ellon's
Michele Thomson (Meldrum House) and Grantown on Spey's Hannah McCook
both totalled 149 for a share of 25th place. Thomson has had scores of
74 and 75, McCook 73 and 76.
Jane Turner (West Linton) made it through with a shot to spare on 150 with scores of 76 and 74.
