Holly Clyburn wins place on 2016 LPGA Tour
By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Holly Clyburn is the only one of the eight British
and Irish players in the starting field at the LPGA Qualifying School Final Tourament to earn full playing rights on the 2016 LPGA Tour.
The Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire player, pictured by Cal Carson Golf Agency, a regular on the Ladies European Tour, showed her class with a final round of three-under-par 69 for a 90-hole final total of five-under-par 355.
That earned her a share of 15th place with the top 20 and ties gaining pass marks to the most lucrative women's pro circuit in the world.
But Wales' Becky Morgan, the only other Brit to make the final day, shot a four-bogey 76 for 363 and a share of 50th place, outside the 21st to 45th finish which would have gained her "conditional status" for next year's LPGA Tour.
All those players who made it through to the final day in the leading 70 and ties gained membership of the Symetra Tour, the LPGA's No 2 circuit.
Former Loretto School pupil and the 2010 Scottish schoolgirls champion Julie Yang from South Korea clinched her place on the LPGA Tour despite sagging to a 76 over the final 18 holes for a total of 354 and joint 12th place behind the winner by seven strokes, Florida-based Simin Feng from China. She had a 69 in each of her last three rounds for a brilliant five-round total of 18-under-par total of 342
The three Scots in the field - Kylie Walker, Sally Watson and Gemma Dryburgh - missed the fourth-round cut.
So too did England's Hayley Davis, Northern Ireland's Stephanie Meadow and Amy Boulden fro0 69 67m Wales.
