KELSEY AND GEMMA HAVE REASONS TO
BE CHEERFUL ON ROAD TO MOROCCO
Nairn's
Kelsey Macdonald and Aberdeen-born Gemma Dryburgh are within the top 10
at the Ladies European Tour Final Qualifying School in Morocco after
two rounds in this 90-hole marathon test of skill, stamina and nerves.
The
first hurdle for the field of 115 is to be among the leading 60 players
and ties who survive the cut on Monday after four rounds.
Alyson
McKechin from Paisley, Ellon's Michele Thomson and Jane Turner (West
Linton) are outwith the qualifying zone at the moment.
Macdonald,
joint leader after the first round, has dropped back to be sharing
fifth place on seven-under-par 137 alongside six other players who
include Dryburgh and this year's St Rule Trophy winner at St Andrews,
Aditi Ashok from India.
Kelsey has had rounds of 67 and 70, Dryburgh 71 and a bogey-free, six-birdie round of six-under 66.
McKechin,
who is tied 62nd, had a triple bogey 6 at the short 13th and a double
bogey 6 at the seventh at the Amelkis venue for a 76 and two-over 146.
Thomson, tied 78th, had four birdies but three bogeys in a 71 at Amelkis for 148.
Turner,
tied 100th. covered her last seven holes at the Samanah course in two
under par but the damage had been done earlier and she finished the day
with a 75 for 151.
At the end of five rounds, the leading 30 and ties will gain full playing rights on the 2016 Ladies European Tour.
