Glasgow-born Rachael Taylor (North Carolina State) and Berkhamsted's Alice Hewson (Clemson) finished T18 and T48 respectively in a field of 88 players at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic which ended today (Tuesday) at Rio Mar Country Club, San Juan.
Rachael, daughter of a Scot who is a head pro at a club in Germany, started the 54-hole tournament very well with a five-under 67 to be lying second but subsequent scores of 80 and 77 for a total of seven-over 223 over the par-72, 6191yd course saw her just make the final top 20.
GB and I international Alice Hewson and the Clemson University team had an unusually bad tournament by their standards.
Alice, pictured, shot 73, 79 and 77 for 13-over 229 and joint 48th place while Clemson finished last of 16 in the team event won by Georgia (867) from Arkansas (870) and Texas Tech (878) with North Carolina State (902) 10th.
The individual honours were won by Maria Fassi (Arkansas) with scores of 72, 67 and 69 for eight-under 208. She finished one stroke ahead of Gabby Parker (Texas Tech) (66-73-70).
