University of California-Los Angeles RANCHO SANTA FE, California - The third-ranked UCLA Bruins women's golf team defeated Pac-12 foe and ninth-ranked Stanford (the Cardinals) on Wednesday in the third-place match at the San Diego State University March Mayhem at The Farms, beating the Cardinals 4-1.
Third-year student Bronte Law from Cheshire beat Mariah Stackhouse by two holes. After three halves, Stackhouse won the fourth, but Law came back with a victory on the seventh. Law took the lead for good with a birdie on the ninth, also winning holes #12 and #13 to go three -up.
The English champion dropped the 14th, but halved the 15th
Southern California won the tournament. They beat Arizona 4-1 in the final.

More match-play is on tap for the Bruins at their next tournament, which takes them to Athens, Georgia for the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. The first round on April 1 will be stroke play to determine the match-play bracket. Two rounds will be contested on April 2 and the final round on April 3.
