By COLIN FARQUHARSON
The 36-hole final of the French U21 girls' open championship at Paris St Cloud will be contested tomorrow by Clarisse Louis (France) and Ana Pelaez (Spain), both of whom produced unexpected results en route to the laststage.
Louis, 12th of the 32 match-play qualifiers, beat the No 1 seed Giola Carpinelli (Switzerland) by 3 and 1 in the semi-finals.
Maria Parra (Spain), the No 2 seed and the Women's World Amateur No 3, was expected to make her way through to the final but she lost by one hole in the quarter-finals to compatriot Ana Pelaez.
In the semi-finals, Pelaez won by 3 and 2 against Angelica Moresco (Italy) who beat England's last hope, Inci Mehmet in the second round. Pelaez was the seventh best qualifier for the match-play stages.
