Inci Mehmet beaten in Round 2 of French
U21 match-play
By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Inci Mehmet (Royal Mid Surrey) failed in her bid to reach the quarter-finals of the French U21 girls championship for the Esmond Trophy at Paris St Cloud.
She was beaten in her second round tie by Angelica Moresco (Italy) who won by 5 and 4.
Although No 1 seed Giola Carpinelli (Italy), first-round conqueror of Rochelle Morris, has made it to the last eight, the favourite would appear to be the No 2 seed, Maria Parra (Spain) who is No 3 in the Women's World Amateur Rankings.
Ireland's Mairead Martin is through to the quarter-finals of the Under-20s Cartier Trophy.
SUNDAY MORNING QUARTER-FINALS
Giola Carpinelli (Switzerland) (No 1 seed) versus Rosso L Colombotto (Italy) (No 8).
Clarisse Louis (Belgium) No 12) v Karoline Lund (Norway) (No 29).
Angelica Moresco (No 19) v Carlotta Ricolfi (Italy) (No 6)
Ana Pelaez (Spain) (No 7) v Maria Parra (Spain) (No 2).
