Last call for all golfing Mothers and Daughters
By JO THESIGER
On Saturday, April 16, Royal Mid Surrey golf club in Richmond, will enjoy its annual
festival of golfing Mothers and Daughters, who compete over 27-holes of
medal foursomes to win the coveted Trophy.
Many
legendary names have added their names to the honours board, including
former England international and rookie professional Alexandra Peters,
who scored a hat-trick with her mother, Ann, from 2008 to 2010. They
followed another formidable pair, Liz Boatman, former Curtis Cup Captain
and player, with her daughter Alex, who had also enjoyed three
successive victories from 2005 to 2007.
This
year, 15-year-old Amelia Williamson from Royal Cromer in Norfolk, is
back with her mother Tracey, eight-times Norfolk champion, on a mission
to make it three in a row! The holders for the last couple of years
look in good shape, with Amelia topping the Norfolk women’s order of
merit in 2015.
Entries officially close for this unique event on
Friday, March 18 but if you are interested after this date, there may still be spaces
available if you contact the competition organiser directly -
