Laura Murray in the mix at Swiss Ladies Open

Gams, Switzerland : Spain’s Caroline Gonzalez Garcia maintained her lead after the second round of the ASGI Swiss Ladies Open at Gams Werdenberg Golf Club in Switzerland.

Gonzalez Garcia followed her opening 63 with a one under par, 71, to lead by three shots from Austrian amateur Emma Spitz and Hungarian Csilla Lajtai-Rozca.

The Spaniard seemed surprised by her record-breaking score of 9 under par but followed up with a solid score to stay ahead.

“It's the first time I have lead a tournament like this, it's a different feeling. I feel well but I am nervous a little. Tomorrow I try to keep calm when I play, it is difficult but I have to stay calm.”

“Switzerland is wonderful. I studied Geology and that’s why I like the mountains. And it`s already my second time here in Switzerland.”

Spitz received an invitation to play in the event and relished the opportunity to play against some of the bright young stars of women’s European golf in her first professional event.
The top ranked Austrian amateur shot the low round of the day, 67, 5 under par, for a total of 137.

Lajtai-Rozca earned her LET card at the Lalla Aicha Tour School in 2014 but struggled on the main tour in her rookie season. The 19 year-old will concentrate on playing full time on the LET Access Series this year in order to try and earn her card back with a high finish on the LETAS Order of Merit.

Lajtai-Rozca took advantage of her length from the tee to record a round of 69 to tie Spitz at 7 under par.

Early starter England’s Emma Goddard recorded a second round of 68, for a 36 hole total of 5 under, and a tie with fellow Englishwoman Jessica Bradley, who also shot 68.

Four players, Ainil Bakar (73) from Malaysia, Norway’s Tonje Daffinrud (69), Laura Murray (71), pictured above, the Kippie Lodge player from Alford and England's Holly Aitchison (69), are all tied at 4 under par, 140.

The cut fell at +2, with a total of 42 professionals and 6 amateurs. Play will commence at 8.30am from both the 1st and 10th tees for the final round.
