Norwegian Celine win Irish girls' title
by four strokes
NEWS RELEASE FROM IRISH LGU
Weather
conditions - clear blue skies - couldn’t have been better for the 50 girls who made the cut
for the final round of the Irish U18 Girls’ Open Stroke Play Championship at
Roganstown today.
Overnight leader Celine Borge (Norway), pictured, extended her lead early on in her round,
shooting 2 under for the first 9 holes. However, Annabel Wilson (Lurgan)
was hot on her heels, only two shots behind with a birdie
on the 3rd.
Unfortunately, a bogey on 7 and a double bogey on 8 saw
Annabel fall five behind the leader at the turn.
Things went from bad
to worse for Wilson as she carded 4 bogeys in a row from the 12th to
the 15th. She finished T10 on 220, seven off the lead.
Celine carded a one under par final round of 70 to finish level par 213, winning by four strokes.
Linn Grant (Sweden) and Cloe Frankish
(England) finished joint second, both shooting 73, 72, 72 to
finish on 217 f
The Swedish A trio
of Louise Henningsson, Ellen Hutchinson-Kay and Matilde Stenquist came
from behind to win the Nations Cup by 3 strokes with a total of 433.
Ireland A (436) were second, Sweden A (437) third and England (438) fourth.
Scotland (Shannon McWilliam, Joanne Free and Claire Robertson) finished sixth of seven with a total of 447.
Aboyne's McWilliam finished 16th in the individual event with rounds of 76, 73 and 74 for 223.
Free, from Gullane, finished T17 on 225 (76-75-74)
Carnoustie's Robertson scored 75, 80 and 77 for a T36 finish on 232.
