Top 20 finishes by India Clyburn and Rachael
Taylor but NC State still only eighth
By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Former Scottish U21 girls champion India Clyburn from Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, now a freshman student at North Carolina State University, finish 14th in a field of 84 players at the Bryan National Collegiate tournament at Browns Summit, Bryan Park (April 1 to 3).
India, pictured left by Cal Carson Golf Agency, had three steady rounds of 74, 75 and 76 for a 54-hole aggregate of 225 over a par 72 course of 6,038yd.
She finished six shots behind the winner by two, Sarah Schmeizel (South Carolina) (73-71-75 for 219).
Another NC State student, Scot Rachael Taylor, finished T20 with 74-76-77 for 227.
Elizabeth Mallett (North Carolina), a senior from Sutton Coldfield, shot 79-79-79 for 236 and a T51 finish.
Virginia (88) won the team title ahead of South Carolina (894) with Florida State (896) third in a field of 15 teams.
North Carolina State obviously don't have the players to back up India Clyburn and Rachael Taylor as, despite their top-20 finishes, NC State finished eighth on 911. North Darolina were 10th on 917.
