The trio posted 7-under 64s, having four bogeys between the three Three more players, Haru Nomura, Catriona Matthew and Casey Grice, are one stroke back of the leaders on the six-under 65 mark.
Ariya Jutanugarn, who has won the last three LPGA Tour events, is not in the field this week.
Miyazato’s best moment came at No. 3 after she started on the back nine. She eagled the par-5 to get herself to 5 under for the round.
“That was actually lucky that I hit it pretty firm, and I saw like it jumped in the cup,” she said.
Playing with Reto for the first time in a tournament, the two said they had a good chemistry and were battling it out with each other.
“First time playing with her in a tournament actually but she’s a really nice girl and she hits it really long. It was a good atmosphere. Just a good chemistry I guess, so looking forward to playing with her tomorrow again,” Miyazato said.
Said Reto: “I felt like one hole she birdies and the next hole I birdie and just back and forth. It was really fun. She’s a good player, good putter. So it was nice to sort of have that going and sort of just mix it between us with all the birdies.”
Reto, who is looking for her first LPGA victory, has missed three cuts in her last six starts and withdrew last week at the Volvik Championship.
Nordqvist, a five-time winner on the LPGA Tour, had a shaky start bogeying two of her first three holes. But she bounced back and ended her first nine with three birdies and then came in at 6 under, birdieing her last four holes.
“Well, I didn’t get off to the best start, but then on 16, I hit it to about a foot and a half. Both 17 and 18, I had birdie putts from I think six feet,” Nordqvist said.
“Hit a good one wedge shot to another foot on 1, so that was a good stretch. From there on, I seemed to hit really good shots. Made a good 3-footer on 6 and a little longer putt on 7 and 8 I didn’t expect and then a good 3-footer on the last.”
“Just very happy to be back and hit a lot of good putts today and then definitely a lot of good iron shots.”
