Beaten Aberdeenshire win Northern Division
title on tie-breaker
Aberdeenshire were beaten 5-4 by Perth and Kinross in their final match today but ended the Northern Division women's inter-county team tournament as the champions.
Angus beat Northern Counties 6.5 to 2.5 today and that meant that three teams completed the three-day programme with identical records of two wins and one defeat.
The tie-breaker was a comparison of individual games won and Aberdeenshire easily won that with 18.5pt. Angus and Perth and Kinross both had 14.5pt totals.
Aberdeenshire's big win over Northern Counties on Sunday (8.5-0.5) gave them a big advantage in the countback.
Aberdeenshire go forwarded as Northern Division champions to the Scottish county finals at Aboyne Golf Club in September when they will meet the other three divisional champion counties.
