COUNTY HIGHLIGHT AT EDZELL

Aberdeenshire meet defending champions Angus on the opening day of the Northern Division women's inter-county team golf championship at Edzell Golf Club today (SAT).

Angus lack the services of new Scottish champion Ailsa Summers (pictured) who cannot get more time off from her work as an aircraft dispatcher at Edinburgh Airport after a week off winning the national title at West Kilbride.

Perth and Kinross meet Northern Counties in the other first-day contest.

The overall winners after a three-day round-robin programme go on to represent the Northern Division in the Scottish women's county championship finals at Aboyne Golf Club from September 16 to 18.

Angus are the current Scottish champions, having won the title in three of the past four years.

PROGRAMME

SATURDAY - Perth and Kinross v Northern Counties, Angus v Aberdeenshire.

SUNDAY - Perth and Kinross v Angus, Northern Counties v Aberdeenshire.

MONDAY - Aberdeenshire v Perth and Kinross, Northern Counties v Angus.
