Annabell beats par to challenge for  England U14 title  Finland’s Kerttu Hiltunen leads the title chase in the England U14 girls’ open championship, closely followed by England’s Annabell Fuller (pictured).  Hiltunen, 13, is three-over par after two rounds on the Signature course at The Nottinghamshire, and Fuller (Roehampton) is a shot behind, having posted the low round of the championship today with her two-under 70.  There’s a three-shot gap to third placed Ffion Tynan (Minchinhampton) on seven-over while the next players are nine-over. Fuller is very much on form and seeking a family double – for her older sister Sammy is a past winner of the previous U13 title.  Already this season she’s won the Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters, been runner-up six times, including the Scottish girls’ championship, and claimed her place in the England team for next week’s Girls’ Home Internationals. Today she improved on her opening round by eight shots, but still felt she’d left shots on the course. “I could have shot a lot lower if a few more putts had gone in, but I played a lot better and didn’t miss many greens.” Her round included three birdies and an eagle on the par five eighth. “I didn’t make many mistakes and I’m hoping for another good round tomorrow,” she said.  To win, she’ll have to get past Hiltunen who, speaking through her father, explained that she not surprised to be leading, having won the Finnish U14 championship a month ago. Today, the 13-year-old was one-over par after a solid performance on the greens helped her amass three birdies.  Hiltunen has been playing golf since she was seven, introduced to the game by her father who is a professional.
