Hyo Joo Kim shot the second-best round of her career, a 7-under 64, to take a three-shot lead into the final round of the Marathon Classic at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio.
South Korean Kim entered the round tied for the lead with Lydia Ko, but her seven birdies moved her to 15 under, three up on Ko and Alison Lee.
The only time Kim has bested the 64 she shot Saturday was when she shot a 61 at the 2014 Evian Championship, where she eventually went on to win.
“I hit good drives, good tee shots and iron shots, and I managed to get up-and-down, and I made good putts,” Kim said. “It was good.”
Ko shot a bogey-free 4-under 67, which was highlighted by a string of three straight birdies to end her front nine. Ko is looking to earn her fourth win of the season.
Lee, meanwhile is looking for her first career victory and just her second top-10 of the season.
“Feels like I’m playing golf again,” Lee said, who has battled shoulder injuries all season. “I’m actually having a great time out there and committing to the shot and watching the ball go where I want it to go.
"I feel really confident going into tomorrow. It’s definitely been a while since I’ve felt like this, but it was worth the wait.”
Stacy Lewis and Ariya Jutanugarn are four shots back in a tie for fourth at 11-under.
