Louise Anderson beats top seed 

 

Carol Wilson at 22nd in quarters

Louise Anderson (Duff House Royal), eighth of the 16 match-play qualifiers, beat top seed Carol Wilson (Murcar Links) at the 22nd hole of their Aberdeenshire women's county golf championship quarter-final at Newmachar Golf Club on Saturday evening.

They had just gone down the 19th when torrential rain flooded the course and closed it for some time. When play was resumed Anderson applied the KO blow at the fourth extra hole.

The Banff player will meet title-holder Sammy Leslie (Kemnay) in the semi-finals which will not be held until Sunday (August 7).

The handicap final will be contested by Vicky Neish, who plays off 20 at Oldmeldrum, and Kath Emeleus, a 13-handicapper at Hazlehead.
