Suzann Pettersen, Brooke Mackenzie Henderson share lead at Portland Classic

Suzann Pettersen shot an 8-under 64 to share the second-round lead with Brooke Mackenzie Henderson at the Cambia Portland Classic at Columbia Edgewater Country Club.
Henderson, the defending champion, shot a 4-under 68 to get to 11 under. Henderson bogeyed the 17th and fell off the share of the lead briefly, but rebounded with a birdie at the last hole to grab a share of the lead.
Mariajo Uribe is one shot back in solo third after her second straight 5-under 67. Austin Ernst, Pernilla Lindberg and Angela Stanford are each in joint fourth at 6 under.
Petterson, who is a two-time winner in Portland (2011, 2013), was bogey-free in her second round, and posted the best round of her season to date.
“Obviously there are certain courses you play well, but you can’t take anything for granted out here. You still have to go out and execute, no matter how much you like the course,” Pettersen told the media. “I sure did find some magic on the greens today. I felt like I played I great yesterday. Maybe gave away a shot or two towards the end. Tried to take advantage of little softer greens this morning and little purer greens as well.”
Pettersen made her move after a stretch of four straight birdies from holes 12-15.
A 15-time winner on Tour, Pettersen is looking for her first victory of the season, her last win coming at the 2015 Manulife LPGA Classic. She needed just 24 putts Friday, improving on what has been the most difficult part of her game recently.
“I feel like when I putt well I can put a good score. Today I felt like I could make anything. That’s a nice feel,” Pettersen said. “It’s starting to show results. Yeah, just got a nice flow. I’m excited for the game to kind of come around for this time of year; next week as well. Just try and go out and play another two great rounds and then see where it takes me.”
Ontario-born Henderson is proud of her Scottish ancestry and likes to use her middle name of "Mackenzie."
