Greetings from Woburn.
Just to add my tuppenny worth to the rant about Scottish Golf.
The committee at Gullane Ladies are absolutely seething about the lack of top players in the Mackie Bowl.
They asked Scottish Golf if Sunday
31st July was a suitable day to hold it and were told that the 31st
would be OK ... Well, it is the travelling day for the players chosen to play for Scotland in the Women's and Girls' Home
Internationals.
There have been five call-offs this week from
Scottish team members. We could have held the Mackie Bowl tournament last Sunday (July 24th) if we
had known that there would be a problem.
As it is, it has reduced the field, and of course the strength of field.
The Mackie Bowl is the last remaining Ladies 36-hole scratch event. There used to be six similar events on the SLGA Order of Merit schedule. The rest have all folded because of lack of entries.
Gullane Golf Club and Gullane Ladies Golf Club take great pride in hosting this event for the top players in the country.

Gullane No 1 is a wonderful course,
always in the best of condition. The Mackie Bowl entry fee is very cheap at £20 for
two fantastic rounds of golf.
The committee ask..... What and who are we running it for? We are certainly not getting any support from Scottish Golf.
We should be encouraging good, up and coming golfers to play in these events to gain experience. As it is, the Mackie Bowl might be the next one to bite the dust.

PS. Late entries might still be accepted if a player phoned Gullane Golf Club on 01620 842255
