England trio selected for world girls’ championship

Sophie Lamb, Emily Price and Bel Wardle will represent England in the
World Junior Girls’ Championship in Canada next month.
The
championship, which includes 72-hole team and individual events, will
be played at Mississaugua Golf Club, Ontario, from 25-30 September.
The players:
Sophie Lamb (Clitheroe, Lancashire), 18, was the leading qualifier in the English
women’s match play championship, tied fourth in the English women’s
amateur and sixth in the English stroke play. She helped England win the
Women’s Home Internationals earlier this month. (Image © Leaderboard

Emily Price (Cleobury Mortimer, Worcestershire), 16, has just won the English
women’s stroke play championship, adding it to her earlier wins in the
Scottish U18 girls’ open and in two prestigious scratch events. She was
also runner-up in the English girls’ amateur and reached the last 32 in
the British girls’ championship.
Bel Wardle (Prestbury, Cheshire), 16, reached the final of the British girls’
championship. She tied first in the Royal Birkdale Scratch Trophy,
scoring eight-under par over 36 holes, and was fifth in the English
girls’ amateur, eighth in the St Rule Trophy and 11th in the English
women’s stroke play.
