MAGUIRE AND LAW WELL PLACED AT LPGA Q SCHOOL

Curtis Cup players Leona Maguire (Ireland) and England's Bronte Law are sharing third place on five-under-par 139 at the halfway stage of the LPGA Qualifying School Stage 2 tournament over 72 holes in Florida.

Maguire has had scores of 72 and 67, Law 69 and 70.

They are three shots behind the leader, Maia Schechter (USA) who is on eight-under 136 after a pair of 68s. She leads by one from the 2003 British girls champion, Marianne Skarpnord (Norway) (69-68).

Others in the top 10 include England's Mel Reid, 70-71 for ninth place on 141, and Edinburgh-based American, Breth Allen, 67-75 for 142 and a share of 10th place.

Scots Kylie Walker (71-72) for 143 and Gemma Dryburgh (73-71) for 144 are T14 and T20 respectively.

The third Scot in the field, Fife-based Sally Watson, has to improve a bit over the final 36 holes.She is T137 on 153 after rounds of 75 and 78.

The leading 80 players and ties after Sunday's final round will advance to the next stage.
