SCOTS MEN AND WOMEN TRAIL IN SOUTH AMERICA
Argentine players are giving the home fans plenty to shout about by leading in both the men's and women's South American amateur championships, supported by the R and A, at Buenos Aires.
Marcos Montenegro (Argentina) has a two-stroke lead at the halfway stage of the men's event after rounds of 65 and 70 for nine-under-par 135.
Scots Barry Hume (75-71 for 146) is lying T24 and Euan McIntosh (77-81 for 158) is 68th.
In the women's championship at the same venue, Argentina's Delfina Acosta (72-67) is sharing the lead with Mexico's Isabelle Fierro (68-71) on the five-under-par 139 mark.
They are four clear of third placed Sofia Garcia Aust (Paraguay) (71-72 for 143).
Ireland's Paul Grant has slipped to 11th place with rounds of 70 and 75 for 145.
Wales' Bethan Morris (72-74) is sharing 12th place on 146.
Scotland's Hazel MacGarvie (80-75) and Gabrielle Macdonald (78-77) are joint 36th on 155.
