Jess Meek's 70 is her best yet on US college circuit
Missouri University women's golf team, which contains two Scots and one from England, wrapped up its Spring 2017 tournament opener on Sunday, finishing fifth at the Florida State Match-Up.
The Tigers turned in a top 5 team performance for the second time this year, joining their first place finish at the 2016 Johnie Imes Invitational.
"We started the day with a solid front nine and finished strongly to catch and hold off Minnesota on the back side," said head coach Stephanie Priesmeyer.
"We showed signs of steady improvement throughout the tournament, which is always a good sign when coming off of winter break. Jess Meek made a gritty comeback after a rough start and covered her last 15 holes in four-under-par for a individual best ever round of 70.
"That's the kind of fight we are looking to exude this spring as we make our way into post-season play."
Jess Meek (Carnoustie), in her final year at Missouri, delivered her top single round of her four years in America, firing a 2-under 70 final round at Don Veller Seminole Golf Club.
Meek tied for 25th place with a total of 220. Her earlier rounds were both 75s.
Former Scottish women's amateur champion Clara Young from North Berwick, a third-year student, finished T28 on 221 with rounds of 75, 72 and 74.
Emma Allen, a sophomore from Southampton, finished T33 on 222 with scores of 73, 75 and 74.
