Scots Michele and Karis drop out of title contention in Australia
Scots Michele Thomson (Meldrum House), 28, and Melrose-born, Queensland-based amateur Karis Davidson, 18, joint overnight leaders with India's Aditi Ashok, dropped out of title contention with disappointing second rounds in the 54-hole RACV Gold Coast Challenge at the Royal Pines Golf Resort, Queensland, Australia.
Thomson followed up an opening 70 with a five-over-par 78 for a tally of 148 and a share of 11th place, eight strokes behind the two joint leaders from Thailand, Prima Thammaraks (71-69) and Pannarat Thanapolboonyar (71-69) who are three strokes clear of the third-placed Ashok (70-73).
Thomson had a double bogey 7 at the sixth in halves of 39.
Teenager Davidson, who lives quite close to the course, sagged to an 80 for 150 and joint 23rd place. She had two double bogeys in halves of 40.
Newly-wed Kylie (Walker) Henry improved on her first round score by seven shots with a 71 and is tied for 17th place. Aberdeen-born Gemma Dryburgh survived the cut to the leading 50 and ties by shooting a level-par 73 for 153 and a share of 41st place.
