KIRAN MATHARU FINISHES NINTH OF 10 IN S AFRICA

England's Kiran Matharu finished ninth of 10 in the Sunshine Ladies Tour's closing event of the 2016-17 season, the Chase to Investec Cup Final at Millvale Private Retreat, South Africa.

Leeds-born Matharu, a former English women's amateur champion who played for Great Britain and Ireland in the 2006 Curtis Cup match against the USA, had rounds of 76, 71 and 75 for a total of six-over-par 222.

South African Lee-Anne Pace was the winner with scores of 68, 71 and 71 for six-under 210.

She won by two shots from compatriot Ashleigh Buhai (69-72-71) with another South African, Nicole Garcia, third on 213 (69-71-73).
