SCOTS GIRL SCORES FIRST USA WIN
Stirling-born Eilidh Watson from Dollar, a third-year student at Stetson University, De Land, Florida, scored her first win on the USA women's college circuit today (Thursday), topping a field of 53 players by a comfortable five-stroke margin in the Bulldog Florida Invitational at Windsor Parke Golf Club, Jacksonville, Florida.
Playing as an individual, i.e. her scores did not count for the five-strong Stetson team line-up, Eilidh, a Perth and Kinross county team player, shot rounds of 75-72 for a three-over-par tally of 147 over a 5,956yd course.
Even without Watson's sterling effort, Stetson, with all five team players finishing in the top 15, won the team event with a 616 total. High Point (630) were runners-up and Western Carolina (639) third in the field of nine teams.
Anglo-Scot Paige Kemp from Essex (her mother comes from Stirling) finished T6 on 156 with rounds of 80 and 76.
