ALISON WHITE RETIRING AFTER 15 YEARS WITH R AND A

HIGHLANDER ALISON WHITE RETIRING AFTER 15 YEARS ON R AND A STAFF AT ST ANDREWS

Alison White, daughter of the late Gregor Mcintosh, professional at Nairn Golf Clug for over 30 years, is retiring after nearly 15 years on the staff of the R and A.

"I have really enjoyed my career in golf. Now looking forward to being free to do other things, including playing golf, and not be bound to office hours every week," said Alison who will continue to be involved in the organisation of the prestigious St Rule Trophy women's amateur tournament at St Andrews.

"I started work with the PGA at The Belfry for five years, running WPGA and club professional tournaments. Then I was Chief Executive of the Ladies Golf Union for five years before having a family.

"I came to R&A to help organise the celebrations for the 250th Anniversary after which I got the job as a member of its Golf Development staff. I have been here nearly 15 years in total and in my 12th year in Golf Development.

Her R&A Golf Development duties took her round the world, visiting many countries, including

Visited many countries including Iceland, Finland, Hungary, Slovakia, Bolivia, Paraguay, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Hong Kong, Vietnam, South Africa, Swaziland, Nigeria, Japan, Mexico, Turkey and Egypt.

Alison added: "I have also enjoyed working with university golf programmes and students who have been awarded R&A Scholarships. A nice way to finish this week, seeing all the students play in our event here in St Andrews."
