SCOTTISH WOMEN'S REGIONAL MEDAL FINAL (East)
SIX QUALIFY AT KIRKCALDY FOR WOMEN'S GRAND FINAL
Dianne Watson (Leven GS), Carmen Griffiths (Aboyne) and Sharon Lynch (Haddington) were the three Silver Division qualifiers at today's Revive Active Scottish women's regional medal final (East) at Kirkcaldy Golf Club.
Diane, who has a handicap of five, topped the field of 104 with a net 71, a shot ahead of Aboyne youngster Carmen Griffiths who won a Scottish Junior Tour U14 girls' competition at Turnhouse GC at the weekend.
Five players tied for the third and final Silver qualifying place on net 74. Sharon Lynch, a 10-handicapper, prevailed after a countback.
A countback was also necessary before the three Bronze Division qualifiers were finalised. Kathleen Cassels (Crail GS) and Anne Anderson (Ladybank) were joint leaders of this section with net 74s, Kathleen off a handicap of 24, Anne off 21.
There was room for only one of the three players with net 75s and Megan Kane (Bonnybridge), who plays of 21, won the countback.
The Grand Final, which will be contested by six qualifiers from each of the regional eliminators, wll be held at Crieff Golf Club on Sunday, July 16.
