LIVE SENIORS MATCHPLAY RESULTS FROM BLAIRGOWRIE
Despite wet conditions yesterday , Blairgowrie saw some good matches in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Senior Women’s Open Championship.
After a close morning match, defending champion Sheena Wood again took it down to the wire, beating Jennifer Bryans by one hole.
She will face Lorna McKinlay, who beat Anne Ryan by two holes, in the semi-finals this morning.
Fiona De Vries continued her good golf, beating Tain’s Mary Smith by an impressive 5&4, while Gillian Kyle overpowered Heather Anderson’s local knowledge with a 2&1 victory. De Vries and Kyle will also be competing this morning for a spot in the final.
In the nett matchplay, Carrickvale’s Diane Moncrieff knocked out England’s Sheila Stirling with a 4&3 victory this afternoon.
Sue Holwell enjoyed another comfortable win, beating Mairi Pollock 6&5 to buy herself a ticket to the semi-finals.
Gillian Wallace became Blairgowrie’s last hope when she earned a 3&2 victory over Haggs Castle’s Jennifer Mack.
Wallace will pay against Ireland’s Majorie Ahern tomorrow who defeated Karen Ballantyne 3&1 this afternoon.
The semi-finals of the Scottish Senior Women’s Open Championship will take place today at Blairgowrie Rosemount beginning at 8.30am. The final will also take place this afternoon, following completion of the morning matches.
