Paula Grant wins Irish close title for a second time, beats Ciara Casey 3 and 1
Paula Grant (Lisburn) today won the Irish close women's amateur championship for a second time by beating teenager Ciara Casey (Hermitage) by 3 and 1 in the 18-hole final at Mullingar Golf Club.
Paula won her national title for the first time in 2013.
Grant was two down after Casey won the 10th and 11th but she hit back with three winning birdies - at the 12th, 13th and 17th on her way to a 3 and 1 title-winning margin.
In the Ita Wallace Plate, Chloe Ryan (Castletroy) was three up after six on her way to winning the final by 4 and 2 against Kate Lanigan (Hermitage).
